Final years students of the department of Journalism attended the lecture cum interactive session on the topic “ India’s looming crisis? Too many men” delivered by Annie Gowen, India Bureau Chief of The Washington Post. The programme was held on 6th August, 2018 at International Centre Goa, Donapaula.
During the programme Annie Gowen who has reported for Washington Post throughout South Asia and the Middle East since 2013 discussed the disturbing consequences of having too many men in India and China which could potentially lead to destabilizing in terms of employment, consumption, crime, prostitution and trafficking etc.
The Cell for Visual Arts conducted their first activity for the academic year 2018-19 on the
occasion of World Photography Day. The Photography Competition was held on 18th
August 2018, with the theme ‘Forgotten objects’ which was open for all students. The Chief Guests for the event were Mr Rosario Estebeiro and Mr Aslesh Kamat.
Over 40 students from various streams participated in this competition from which, Mr Gunjan Chari, TY Mass Comm. secured the first place while Mr Kevin Fernandes of FY BCA bagged the second place. Manohar Naik, F.Y.BSc. settled for the third place.
All the entries were exhibited in the seminar hall along with an exhibition of a personal collection of vintage cameras by Mr Aslesh Kamat.
