The students of the department of Mass Communication and Journalism took part in the fourth
edition of the inter-class competition, MediaFest, with enthusiasm and pomp. The students
participated in a total of 13 competitions held over three days from 26th March – 30th March.
The chief guest for the event was the vice principal, Ms. Ursala Baretto.
The competitions included Reel Making, Just Kidding, Click, Quiz, Nail Art, Battle of The Bands,
Cooking Without Fire, Fashionista and Dance. The event convenors for the fourth edition were
Ms. Vailarose Fernandes (Assistant Professor, Department of Mass Communication) and Mr.
Nitin Volvoikar (Assistant Professor, Department of Journalism). They said that the event was
organized to give the students a platform to showcase their talents and to give them creative
freedom along with a positive competitive spirit.
The S.Y.B.A. Mass Communication & Journalism students were crowned the winners of
MediaFest 4.0, while the T.Y.B.A. Mass Communication & Journalism students emerged as the
runners-up. All three classes were handed over a gift hamper. Sheefa Tonse, the Second-Year
class representative and Nikhil Satardekar, assistant class representative were thrilled and
overjoyed to pick up the trophy. The event saw the former students of the two departments with
expertise in various fields being invited at the event as judges along with other professionals in
the fields. Mr. Vibhav Naik (Assistant Professor, Department of Mass Communication) and
Aditya Krishna Malhotra, a former student from the department were the hosts for the day. The
students from all three years held an impromptu jam session before the final results.
The department of Journalism also came together to celebrate 20 years of the department of
Mass Communication. The Mass Communication department faculty was presented with a
memento and the sweet moments were made even more special with a cake cutting ceremony.
The valedictory ceremony was followed by a prize distribution ceremony. The winners were
felicitated with medals. The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Mr. Lisvan Rodrigues.
